Finally a great authentic Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant not too far from Downtown OKC! I was counting down until this place opened! Consistently good food - extensive menu makes it never dull for your palette! You must try it for yourself! Start with the rice paper with roasted pork as the appetizer (there are several other places that have a similar item but this by far is my favorite). From there you can have a family style multi-course meal or just a simple bowl of Vietnamese noodle soup/Pho. I have also ordered food to-go and although that just lacks the wonderful restaurant ambiance (nice chandeliers) when you bring it home - food still tastes great and order has always been fresh and ready. I will definitely come back and you should too!

i like this place a lot. it's a good option for fans of buffets. although it's a rare occasion when i eat at buffets, this place is definitely near the top of my list in OKC. the food is good, there is a great variety. however there is a lot of fried food, a turn-off for me, but probably not for others. the service is pretty good, fast with water refills, etc. i think the big thing about this place is to come during lunch or dinner hours, during off hours (like 3-5pm), there isn't really a lot of traffic through the restaurant so the food isn't as fresh, but during lunch and dinner hours the food is super fresh and tastes great

Bad, bad, bad!!! Save your money and frustration and go to Mc Donald's! The staff won't even eat the food...

The food here is way below par. I tried several different items thinking maybe I'd find something I liked. It was all so gross. When I told the manager/owner he said "Sorry about that. I will have to go and eat what you ate and see for myself". I still had to pay even though I didn't eat anything. Never going back!

It was bad--real bad. I know its a buffet and that one should not expect much from a buffet, but sometimes you find a tasty one. This is not a tasty one. The space itself is pretty lovely. It's ginormous and I wouldn't mind going to a ball there, sadly it's not a ballroom but a Chinese restauraunt. Almost all the food is fried beyond decency. I don't mind fried foods, but I do mind chewy foods and EVERYTHING i ate was chewy. I would imagine the jello was chewy there. It was just awful. Don't go there. I beg of you.

No. Just no. Read all of the other one-star reviews because they are spot on, and I would just be repeating what they've already said. I'm not one for hyperbole, but this is the most bland, most dry, and most disappointing Asian food I've ever had. If you like eating rancid sponges then this place is for you. #foodpoisoning

I didn't have a very good experience with this place. I'm not sure if I went during a bad time or what but the food wasn't very good. The food tasted below average when comparing to other buffets. The peanut sauce for the spring roll was pretty bad, it made me cringe. The place was pretty big but it doesn't have a restaurant atmosphere for some reason. The lighting in here also seems a bit dim. There were extra tables/chairs stacked on top of each other in the restaurant. Even though it wasn't all that great, looking at the pictures I took made me hungry and I'm willing to give this place another try sometime.

The swiss army knife of Asian food. They have it all! One side is a buffet and the other is a family style restaurant. They've got Pho, Noodle Dishes, Lobster, and Hot Pot! I come here at least once a week, and I've got my favorites on rotation.

This was by far the worst buffet that I have ever had. After reading all the good reviews on this restaurant and the fact that it was in the Asian district, I assumed that this would be one of the better experiences that I had with an Asian buffet . The restaurant is very nice from the outside, a large extravagant building on the corner of 23rd street and Classen. It appears there is several restaurants in this one building. When we arrived they were setting up for Chinese New Year. Upon walking inside the restaurant was very large open space with tables and booths in the front, the buffet in the back, what appears to be a connected restaurant to one side, and a balcony seating area above and behind the buffet. The whole place where traffic never went was filled with a layer of dust. Upon arriving we were seated immediately at a table and asked for our drink order. We were pointed towards the buffet and the lady went off. At the end of a row of booths there was a counter with mismatched plates stacked in piles of about 20 along with other assorted utensils not commonly used. The buffet is broken into 2 vertical rows of hot food as well as one roll of cold. Horizontally behind this was one long row. Among the vertical hot rows was common Chinese buffet items such as teriyaki chicken, kung pao, fried rice, rice noodle stir fry, egg rolls, soups, assorted chicken beef and pork dishes. The other vertical buffet bar had salad, pickles, sushi, as well as other common cold foods. Along the back wall was the Pho and "seafood" area with a station for deserts on either side of those. There was a mismatch of Seafood available. The clams that I am used to seeing were in a bowl of buttery looking water. There was crayfish, fried soft shell crab, as well as other assorted types of cooked seafood. The Pho was set up as a do it yourself bar with several bowls pre-made with rice noodles and what appeared to be some egg based noodle some with meat some without. There was a broth listed as "Spicy Beef" in the middle of these misstacked bowls with a toppings bar to the left. Among the food being very dry and average at best there were a few items that stuck out to me. First the egg roll was very drive and overcooked as if they had recooked it from the previous day in order to heat it. The sushi was in a shallow covered dish and was very dry and they used so little items inside that when they fell out all 3 were about the size of a pencil eraser each. The summer rolls were large and tacky on the outside and a dry mess on the inside. Every attempt at sauce could not save these summer rolls. There was some mysterious seafood battered and fried. I bit through and it made a pop and reminded me of biting into cartilage. I immediately spit this item out. My wife looked at me and stated that in the 8 years we have been together she has never seen me spit anything out. I squeezed and prodded at the mystery meat and it appeared to have a fish like texture and smell. Finally after disappointment after disappointment I decided to have some Pho to make up for the disappointing experience. I searched through the bowls in attempt to find the right one. I settled on one with rice noodles and a slice of what I assumed to be beef inside. I lifted the the cellophane from the bowl and took a sniff and received the most pungent rotten smell. Not deterred I opted for a noodle only bowl. I grabbed the ladle filled with this dark spicy broth, unlike any that I had seen for Pho before and was greeted with a chunky collagen filled piece of meat. I quickly dumped the meat in order to retrieve broth only. I filled my bowl and topped it with usual toppings and took my seat. This was the worst Pho I have ever had. After one sip and endless one bite items trying to find something edible I gave in. I through my fork down in defeat, walked to the front, paid my $20 for two weekend price with waters and left. Needless to say this was an experience that was bad enough for me to write about.

By far the worst buffet I've ever experienced. Granted its rare when you find a really good one but, this was just completely terrible. Not one thing was even the slightest bit satisfying. Made me sick to my stomach for the rest of the day and I barely touched my plate. All of their chicken dishes were completely dried out and hardly had any chicken in them. It was just dry crusty pieces of yuck. I got some of their green beans, they we're cold and seemed hardly cooked. Over all I will never be visiting this place ever again. I would give them negative stars if I could. Wouldn't be surprised if someday I found out they used some sort of rodent meat or something scary like that...

As far as buffets go, this place is okay. They have takeout, so you can stop by the front and get a to-go container and pay for takeout food by the pound or you can stay to eat there. I tried a number of different items off the buffet -- fried rice, Singapore noodles, egg roll, spring roll, crab rangoon, sesame chicken, chicken with veggies, etc. I also tried the egg drop soup. Overall, the food was decent and there's a wide variety of items to choose from. It's probably not the best food in the Asia district, but if you're looking to sample a lot of different items, it's a good bet.

Hy Palace just might be the most enjoyabe Chinese buffet experience I've had here in OKC. I tried a TON of different things and liked almost all of it. A few of the things I tried include sweet and sour chicken, egg roll, crab rangoon, sushi, hot and sour soup, pretty much the spectrum of Chinese food! I didn't care for the sushi however. All of the rolls had way too much rice for my liking and not enough of the other ingredients, which is why I didn't give this place 5 stars. I loved the egg rolls though and the hot and sour soup was great! Their house special fried rice is also probably the best fried rice I've had at a buffet. I like that they have all of the traditional Chinese dishes but kicked up a notch. This will definitely be my go to Chinese buffet from now on!

Quite possibly the worst buffet I have ever had. It is a buffet... So expectations are low as is. However, when I had to spit food in to my napkin that is when I knew I had to call it quits. Do yourself a favor and find another buffet or do take put from somewhere else.

I was looking for a good buffet but all I got here was disappointment. Preliminary view of the selection looked good enough, but once I sat down to eat, I noticed that all of my food was cold. The egg rolls were hard as well as the biscuits. The wonton soup was exceptionally salty. None of the food had seemed to be replenished during my time there. Needless to say, I won't be back.

I normally hate buffets, but this one is actually pretty good. The Vietnamese part of the buffet is my favorite.

I've been here for lunch buffets and for wedding receptions. The lunch buffet is delish! I especially like the chicken wings and garlic fried chicken. The fried rice is awesome and the veggie/meat stir fry dishes are always hot and fresh. I was surprised to see the variety of traditional Vietnamese entrees and noodle soups as well. All this food and for such a good price! Wedding receptions have even better food. I always look forward to attending receptions when they're booked here. The stir fried lobster is always a main attraction and my favorite would be the fried fish topped with a sweet and spicy sauce. I've been waiting for another wedding party to cater this fish dish so I can eat it again. Nom nom nom!

Worst buffet ever. Most meat too dried and over cooked. Bad taste on most of food. This is a very large restaurant with many tables, so it will be a good place for any events. If you just want Pho, this is no no no place.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
